Get Persuaded, Books Are Back!

Ok so I know I've been writing a lot about TV and I do love TV. I'm a TV junky, fine. There. I do however still love to read and do other things, am still social and active. Ask around. Just wanted to put that out there for my millions of readers who were I'm sure really truly concerned.

I've been reading "Persuasion" by Ms. Jane Austen, at albeit slow pace. I received a beautiful leather bound binding of Seven Novels by Jane Austen (found at Barnes and Noble) as an extremely thoughtful gift from a friend. Although we've seen many of the movies adapted from Austen's works we realized we hadn't actually read many, if any, of the full novels.

"Persuasion" started off a bit slow for me, perhaps reacquainting myself with the language and writing styles of her time, aka old school literature. I'm not finished yet but am definitely much more invested with the Elliot family and our protagonist Miss Anne Elliot - naturally the only likable sister. Will she end up with Mr. Elliot, Captain Wentworth or no one at all? The charming although suspect cousin or the former love whom was abandoned due to persuasion years before?
It's a pretty big book to tote around to work and such but I do love it and highly recommend for all book lovers out there.

How Do I Fit My Workout In? Answer: Planning

We all struggle sometimes to balance everything we need and want to do in a day. Common advice is that we need to make the time for things that are truly important us. I know you may be eye-rolling thinking, but when? For me, it's getting up extra early. For others, maybe it's staying up late. For all of us, it's usually a trade off of some kind. The key to fitting a workout into your day is planning.  Creating, and sticking to, a workout routine is all about the planning. Set yourself up for success by planning ahead and thinking of a workout as a given part of your day. This doesn't mean you can never take a day off but once routine is established it's so much easier to stick to. Conversely, once it's broken it can be more challenging to reestablish. More than two days off, the harder it will be to get back at it. If you really want to workout, try what works for me to make a morning workout happen. 1. Plan It.  Write it in your planner. Input it i...

The Female Vote

This past week there have been countless articles about the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. I was so excited I bought a shirt off Etsy.   August 26 th  is recognized as Women’s Equality Day, commemorating the 1920 adoption of the 19 th Amendment to  the U.S. Constitution . As with most of our country's history, the suffrage movement was not without its own issues of racism and discrimination. Black women were not widely included in conventions nor always recognized for their work in the movement. While we celebrate 100 years of the female vote, it's important to remember that women in many states still faced years of unfair obstacles and discrimination in trying to vote. Black women (and men) continued the fight for true voting rights and in 1965 the  Voting Rights Act  was signed into law. This significant legislation provided clear legal support to ensure equal voting rights fo...
